How disposition codes are designated for IFQ Halibut and Sablefish and IFQ Crab
When an IFQ report is generated in elandings and submitted to the NMFS IFQ Halibut & sablefish or the NMFS IFQ crab systems, the condition codes are marked as either "sold" or "retained". Here is a list of how the disposition codes are translated into the IFQ system:
Halibut IFQ and CDQ & sablefish IFQ
Disposition codes designated as “sold”in the IFQ system
- 41: Sold for fish meal (this is really theoretical since I don't think this is really going to happen in IFQ. I see no code 41 in the data)
- 60: sold
- 61: Sold for bait
- 62: Overage
Disposition codes designated as “retained” in the IFQ system
- 87: Retained for future sale
- 88: discarded, infested
- 89: decomposed or previously discarded
- 92: retained for bait, not sold
- 95: personal use; not sold
- 99: discard, onshore; not sold
Do not get submitted to the IFQ system and don’t come off IFQ
- 63: confiscated or seized
- 64: tagged IFQ fish
- 79: deadloss
- 86: donated
- 93: damaged by observer sampling
- 98: discard at sea
Crab
Disposition codes designated as “sold”in the IFQ system
- 41: Sold For Fishmeal (this is theoretically possible in the system, but crab is not turned into fish meal)
- 60: Sold
- 61: Sold for Bait (this is theoretically possible in the system, but crab is not sold as bait)
- 62: Overage
Disposition codes designated as “retained” in the IFQ system
- 92: Retained for Bait
- 95: Personal Use
- 99: Discard Onshore
Do not get submitted to the IFQ system and don’t come off IFQ
- 63: confiscated or seized
- 79: deadloss
- 86: donated
- 88: discarded, infested
- 98: discard at sea
