Gear Modifier Field for Slinky Pots and Hard Pots in eLandings

For landings on or after September 23, 2021, a warning message will appear if this information is not reported. Beginning January 1, 2022 this information will be required.
State and federal biologists have noted a difference in gear selectivity between hard and slinky pots.
They have requested that vessels catching groundfish with pot gear document whether they are using traditional “hard” pots or flexible “slinky” pots in eLandings.
Collecting this information assists biologist’s with making accurate stock assessments.
The new gear modifier field appears only on the groundfish landing reports with pot gear.
Begin on the Reports Menu page.
Select your Operation, and begin a Groundfish Landing Report.
Select Gear Code 91 - Pot.
Select the appropriate Gear Modifier code:
S - Slinky Pots
H - Hard Pots
If the vessel is using a combination of both Pot Types:
create two landing reports in eLandings;
one for slinky pots
and a second for hard pots
Select the Partial Delivery box.
This does not require scheduling two Prior notice of Landings, or entering one of the reports via Manual landing report, like when you are fishing both pot and longline gear.
