Total Tare Weight is Not Evenly Distributed Against my Line Items on My Tally Sheet

The application of total tare to tally lines is admittedly complex and sometimes bizarre. It doesn’t give an even brailer weight allocation to each tally line (which is what you would expect) because the user can enter a tally line with a very small weight. If we did that then the small weight line could end up having a negative post tare weight, which wouldn’t be right. Things are also complicated because they can end up weighing multiple brailers on one scale hang, and recording that on one tally line.

To handle that, the tLandings logic apportions the total tare by something like a percentage, but it can’t just take a mathematical percentage either, because that would introduce fractional weights. So it does a scratch percentage, and the rounds, moving the rounding errors around to cancel them out.

This means that your total tare weight will not evenly distribute across all line items. The system is following internal business rules and working as designed.
