How to Determine if Your Laptop or Tablet Is 32-Bit or 64-Bit
Finding Operating System Type in Windows 10
1. Type About your PC in the Windows 10 Search bar.
2. Click About your PC in the results list.
3. Look next to System type in the window that opens to see if your computer is a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system.
Finding Operating System Type in Windows 8
1. Type File Explorer at the Start screen to open the Search charm.
2. Click on File Explorer in the Search results list, which opens a computer window.
3. Click on the Computer tab and select Properties.
4. Look next to System type to find out if your computer and operating system are 32-bit or 64-bit.
Finding Operating System Type in Windows 7 and Vista
1. Click Start and right-click on Computer.
2. Click Properties.
3. Look next to System type, which will display either 32-bit or 64-bit
Finding Operating System Type in Windows XP
1. Click Start and right-click on My Computer.
2. Click Properties.
3. Select the General tab.
4. Look under System for the Windows XP version name. If it contains "x64 Edition," the computer is 64-bit. If not, the computer is 32-bit.
